Have you ever had a conversation with someone that had stinky breath? You know the kind where you try to hold your breath as they speak. You try to inhale as less as possible until they are finished talking.

Pre-pandemic, I once had a conversation with a young lady that was trying to be helpful to me while standing in line at the grocery store. It w

as hard for me to focus on what she had to say because here breathe smelt so bad.

How do you handle this type of situation?

Instead of telling the lady, “Back up. your breath stinks.” I just endured the awkward conversation until the end.

When waking in the morning, keep others in mind and brush your teeth. Routine oral care can make the difference between having an awkward conversation like the one above or having pleasant conversations with a life of optimal health or becoming vulnerable to a lot of unwanted health problems such as bad breath, tooth decay, and oral cancer. Also, you will wonder why people do not want to talk to you.

Good oral health should include brushing and flossing daily, performing weekly mouth exams and being aware of any changes such as swelling or mouth pain. Seek medical attention right away if this happens.

Healthy eating is another way to maintain good oral healthy. It can be hard to eat healthy especially since there are so many good unhealthy food choices distracting from the healthy ones. I would much rather have chocolate cake instead of a hand full of almonds. Almonds are the healthy choice. Good food choice n

ot only reduces the chance of eating food that stick to your tooth and cause cavities, bad breath, and tooth decay. It can also lead to mouth sores and more.

A healthy mouth plays an important part in the overall healthy. So, do yourself and others a favor and brush your teeth.
