Heart failure is a serious medical condition that can greatly affect your life. The condition may cause weight gain, shortness of breath, and reduced activity levels. The heart function becomes low in return it does not function well enough to push fluid through the body in an effective manner.
When this happens, it is important to take it seriously and seek out medical advice. Your doctor may refer you to a cardiologist, a doctor that specialize with the heart. The cardiology may assess the progression of the condition and provide a plan to help you get control of it and and maintain a good life.
It is important to follow the guidance of your Cardiologist. It is also important to weigh yourself daily, monitor blood pressure and take your medications. A weight gain of more than 3 pounds in one day is a sign that the fluid level in the body is increasing and the condition is not being controlled. Eat a healthy diet low in salt which includes fresh fruits and vegetables, fish, low-fat lean meats, whole grain foods, high-fiber foods. High sodium(salt) food is not a good choice for heart failure patients because salt holds on to fluid. Processed foods come to mind when thinking of foods high in sodium. Also, take your medication daily to help with the release of fluid from the body.
When heart failure is not managed properly, the need for more frequent hospital stays will become a common occurrence of life. With proper management there is a chance of having a life of optimal well-being. A lifestyle change will be needed to help with the management of heart failure.
Listen to your body and make the changes needed for optimal health. Consistently making choice to maintain optimal health will help with the management of this serious medical condition. Maintain control of heart failure and live your best life.
